Deposit Description
COBBLER CREEK NO.1, adit was excavated from 1850-65, originally on a quartz-iron oxide lode for gold. Slate of the Saddleworth Formation was mined for building stone used locally, with limestone at the portal mined, and burnt to produce lime for mortar. Area is open ground marginal to a small creek and within the Adelaide metropolitan built up zone (2008).
