Deposit Description
STANLEY, extensive workings developed on a quartz lode carrying malachite, azurite and chalcopyrite in host dolomite of the Blyth Dolomite, and located on the peak of a domal structure. The main lode was described as having dimensions 1.2m wide x 80m long, trend 015-030, dip 10-20SE. There are scattered workings on several sections in the area, with the Stanley group of workings referring to those on Section 1977, Hundred Clare. Discovered in 1846, production from 1873-75 recorded at 144.8 tonne @ 17%Cu for recovery of 21.9 tonne of copper metal product. Secondary nodular magnesite formed in host flaggy dolomite of the Blyth Dolomite. No records for any production of magnesite ore. Resources are nil.
