Deposit Summary
extensive copper oxide staining with much malachite, azurite following structural trend in host clay and quartzite of the Pualco Tillite. One quartzite bed with disseminated chalcocite, with sampling returning up to 5%Cu, 560ppmAs, negligible Au, Ag.
Deposit Description
WHEAL MOTLEY, located on the northern spur of the Pualco Range about 6.5 km south of Oak Park homestead. Workings comprise an alignment of shallow excavations, trenches, shafts, paralleling a local 060 structural trend. Host rocks are fine grained, pebbly metasediment and include clay and quartzite interbeds of the Pualco Tillite, severely disrupted by broad warping and local faulting.
Supergene copper mineralisation is evident as extensive copper oxide staining accompanied by much malachite and azurite. One quartzite bed contains disseminated chalcocite. Results of sampling returned up to 5% Cu, with 560 ppm As, and negligible gold and silver. 2 mineralised veins trending 045, dipping NW, are ~10 cm wide, with veinlets branching off, dipping at 15. Barren tension gashes trend 330.
