Deposit Summary
foreshore HM sands deposit hosted by Ooldea sands. Drilling identified an elongate orebody, with measured resource for 31/12/2016 of 23.7Mtonne at 6.3% HM for contained HMS of 1.49Mtonne at 62.7% Ilm, 13.2% Zr, 0.9% Rt, and 9.4% clay.
Deposit Description
TYPHOON, prospect located ~5.5 km SE of the major Jacinth-Ambrosia heavy mineral (HM) sands discoveries. Preliminary results indicated that the geological character and setting of the discovery was similar to the neighbouring Jacinth and Ambrosia deposits, being a foreshore deposit hosted by Ooldea sands. Drilling identified an elongate orebody with dimensions 3km long x 80-400m wide x 1-21m thick. ASX release by Iluka Resources for 31/12/2016 is 23.7Mtonne at 6.3% HM for contained HMS of 1.49Mtonne at 62.7% Ilm, 13.2% Zr, 0.9% Rt, and 9.4% clay.
